Thomas Rhett adopted daughter– “We just try to make our children understand that the world is cruel, that’s not to say, but to be light everywhere you go,” says Rhett. “We still do it like everyone else and we always try to ask the right questions and educate ourselves.” He knows a bit of gratefulness — to say nothing about how to share. This month earlier, Rhett shared with his country-sänger Carrie Underwood the honor of receiving the 2020 ACM Entertainer of the Year trophy. The tie between the yearly awards show was extremely rare. Rhett and his wife, Lauren Akins, appeared at the Kelly Clarkson Show on Thursday and told Willa Gray Akins’s 4- year-old girl of adoption.
In April 2016 Lauren was just one of several needy orphans in a child’s home, who was known as “Blessing.” She visited 147 million orphans working in Uganda with the Christian love organization. At that point, Lauren and Thomas Rhett tried without luck to get pregnant and had just started considering adoption. Actions told Kelly Clarkson her “total life” was adopted and she “talked always” about her adoption of her “total life.” “I just thought it was cool,” she said. We spoke about it, but we hadn’t sat down to talk like that in full adoption.”
This conversation took place with a baby girl after Akins came to Uganda with 147 million Orphans in 2016. After posting the child on social media and talking to his husband via FaceTime. “The story was quite intense when I met Willa,” says Lauren of the kid who was brought home in November 2015 soon after her birth. “All orphans have the very narrative, but it felt like our own baby was that particular baby. I believe that when he didn’t let us get pregnant, the Lord knew what he’s doing.”
