Meyers Leonard Dad – The Miami Heat National Basketball Association’s Meyers Patrick Leonard (born Feb 27, 1992) is a professional US basketball player (NBA). Before being drafted in 2012 by Portland Trail Blazers, he played college basketball in the Illinois Fighting Illini with the 11th overall selection. He was traded to Heat in off-season 2019 after spending his first seven seasons with the Trail Blazers.
Leonard, who was born in Woodbridge, Virginia, grew up in a small village in south-eastern Illinois, Robinson, Illinois. At the age of six his father had been injured in a freak bike crash. James, a golf pro, was killed. His mother Tracie, once a sportsman who was up ten miles a day, had been mostly housebound since her husband’s death because of an old injury to her horse and then a disco operation that left her with paralysing pain.
As a watchman Eonard entered high school, but after a 6-inch (15 cm) spurt of development, he became a centre between his early and sophomore years. O’Neil called him “an abundance of basketball.” He said, “Without losing his balance nor quick-twitching muscles, Leonard won this height.”
